Abram to Abraham

“No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham, for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations.”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭17‬:‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬


This verse is very revealing of God's plans.  Abram was God's chosen person and the Lord God spoke what he has done to Abram which was making him a father of many nations.  At that word it happened and God gave him a new name Abraham indicating what the Lord has done to him.  When God speaks his word creation occurs in the natural world and the spiritual world.  And the Word became flesh and dwelled with us. Jesus is God's very word that has saved his people from their sins.  Those who believe in Jesus shall be saved and are Abraham's children.  Thank you Lord Jesus for saving me.  Amen

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
