Oh You of little faith

 Sept 30, 2024

“But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭39‬:‭21‬ ‭ESV‬‬


Joseph was a righteous man who obeyed the Lord because the Lord was with him.  When Joseph's situation was unjust, God was still with him and gave him the ability not to take revenge but to continue to trust the Lord.  God often doesn't change events that are troubling but he gives us the ability to change our attitude about the event.  If God is with us it doesn't really matter what happens next, like when Jesus was in the boat with his disciples.  They were afraid of sinking and Jesus said to them, Oh you of little faith!  Praise you Jesus for your promise never to leave or forsake us.  Amen

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
