Love overcomes sin

“Your heart knows that many times you yourself have cursed others.”

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭7‬:‭22‬ ‭ESV‬‬


Self reflection is a power tool to those who want to live righteous lives.  It is easy to get angry at people when they act in ways that affect you negatively.  There are interactions that have specific  rules that require obedience and if not followed then scorn is appropriate and justified.  The problem is we live in a sinful world where mistakes and deception rule most often. When Jesus came to show mercy and forgiveness his great love overcomes mistakes and sin.  Therefore before allowing your perceived correct behavior anger you, lovingly ask yourself if you have messed up and has God forgiven you?  If you know Jesus has and will continue to forgive you, you also must forgive the sin that was against you.  That is love!Lord help me to remember that I am a forgiven sinner so I can love those who sin against me.   Amen

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
