Don't be a hypocrite

“So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭23‬:‭28‬ ‭ESV‬‬


Is this verse telling us not to care about how we look or is it asking us, does our outside appearance reflect our heart, and if it does what is the state of our heart?  Hypocrisy is not living out your faith.  You either love Jesus and show it or you don't and try to act like you do.  But what may be even more hideous is you love Jesus and live like you don't!  We must constantly reflect on the condition of our heart and live honestly before God and others for our actions must be true and real for our eternity depends on our heart being in love with Jesus.  Lord help us to check our heart and to draw close to you so we won't be hypocrites, but live by faith in your love.  Praise you Jesus. Amen

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
