Look and listen

 June 6, 2024

“Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭4‬:‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬


Prayer is more than asking God for help.  It is looking for his answer.  Prayer is not a monologue but communication with the God of the universe.  We should expect the Lord to answer our prayer in many different ways.  It may be a still small voice in our heart that gives insight.  Or it could be changing the circumstance that shows us the correct directions. Often we don't even bother to look for an answer because we question if he really is listening.  Lord help us to believe you hear and care about us enough to give us your love and direction to our prayers.  But we must be steadfast in our efforts to know and understand what you are saying to us. Praise you Jesus.  Amen

After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬ ‭ESV‬‬ This verse is a most glorious statement about the Lord Jesus.  He is the very radiance of God that comes to us.  When you see Jesus you see God.  God created all things by his word  and we know that Jesus is the Word of God.  Therefore Jesus made all things and holds all things together.  The universe would explode if Jesus didn't keep it together by saying to it "stay together".  And the greatest act that Jesus did is purify us from sin by coming as a human child into his creation to die for our sins.  He accomplished this amazing task and now sits in complete control of the universe as Lord, God, Savior and our Friend if we believe and love him.  Praise you forever Jesus Christ.  Amen ...

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
