The king of peace

 March 2, 2024

”saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”“

‭‭Luke‬ ‭19‬:‭38‬ ‭ESV‬‬


When Jesus approached Jerusalem on Palm Sunday the people were shouting peace in heaven and glory in the highest.  They were announcing Jesus victory over sin making peace between God and his creation.  What a wonderful way God shows his glory by sending Jesus his only begotten Son to be the peace offering for all times. The Pharisees tried to get Jesus to have the people stop shouting.  Jesus response is amazing and true for creation itself looks forward to the redemption of God's people for it to will have its curse removed.  Even the rocks themselves would shout out that the Messiah is bringing peace to the glory of the highest.  Lord let us embrace your work on the cross as our great, wonderful redemption.  Amen

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
