Pray with an open heart

 March 22, 2024

”On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased.“

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭138‬:‭3‬ ‭ESV‬‬


God always answers the prayers of his people.  Jesus said you don't receive because you don't ask.  So two things happen when we interact with God.  One we don't ask him for things because we don't believe we will receive them for most often they are selfish lust that don't fit into his will. It is difficult to ask the living God for sinful things.  And two we ask and receive but our eyes and heart can't see the answer.  We have in our minds what we think we need and God often has other answers that we can't or won't see.  Prayer should be an openness to receive from the Lord who knows everything we need before we ask him.  Lord help us to come to you humbly knowing that you love us and give us what we need to glorify you.  Amen

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
