Made on God's image

 March 12, 2024

”So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.“

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬


What does it mean that God created mankind in his own image?  God is invisible so how can he have an image?  When mankind was made God saw himself in mankind in a way that was not present in everything else he created.  There was a connection that reflected this image of uniqueness.  It's like when family members have something that shows they are connected like beautiful eyes, red hair, certain phrases they all say!  God made us like him and we must strive to become more like him everyday for that is what we were made and destined to become.  What a privilege and responsibility to be a child made in God's image.  Amen

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
