Love God more than these
March 9, 2024
”When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.”“
John 21:15 ESV
Do you love me more than these. What does more mean and who or what are these? If more means love Jesus more than the other apostles love Jesus then Peter would be better than the other apostles. If Jesus is asking if Peter loves Jesus more and he loves the apostles then he would not love the apostles enough to protect them. It seems what Jesus is asking Peter and all of us, do we love the attention and affection of mankind more than pleasing and following God's will that may be difficult? Loving God means finding joy in trusting and following God's righteousness. Lord give us the faith and strength to find our joy in you. Amen
