Confidence in Jesus

 March 26, 2024

”Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.“

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭16‬ ‭ESV‬‬


How can we have confidence to draw near to God if we are asking for mercy?  Mercy means you need to be forgiven for what you did wrong.  Confidence usually means you are sure of yourself and think you are worthy of your request.  The truth is none of us are worthy to approach God on our own.  Our confidence is in the love of Jesus as he lived a perfect life and died for our sins.  Our confidence is in Jesus work for us and that we know that God the Father accepted Jesus sacrifice for us.  Oh what a savior we have in the Lord Jesus!  Amen

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
