Honest God Truth

 Aug 30, 2023 “so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We believe because God has revealed himself in us by the Holy Spirit.  Human wisdom never leads to faith unless God opens the eyes and heart.  We need God's love, Jesus redemption and the Holy Spirit power to become children of God.  Praise you Lord God.  Amen 

 Aug 29, 2023 Colossians 3:13 "if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive." The closer we know how sinful our hearts truly are without the grace of God we know that forgiveness is our only help.  Without God's forgiveness to us we would not have a relationship with him.  For us to have close lasting relationships with anyone we must forgive.  There is no other way.  Jesus thank you for dying for my sins and thus be forgiven.  Amen 

 Aug 26, 2023 “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Why does praying give you peace?  It is not an automatic formula of pray first then get peace.  God can't be minimized to ritualistic actions.  God gave us a mind that thinks and reasons.  When we don't like a situation we want it to change and if we pray and it doesn't change how can we have peace?  Should we give up our intelligence and stop thinking then God will give us peace? No, we pray to the Creator God through the blood of Jesus his son, for we know that only through Jesus can we come into God's presence. God is holy and we are sinners and to have access to God is only by being clothed with the righteousness of Jesus. And we know that God loves us through...

 Aug 23, 2023 “By mere words a servant is not disciplined, for though he understands, he will not respond.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭29‬:‭19‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Wisdom is more than understanding, it is responding correctly to life's interactions.  When we know what to do and not do it then it becomes sin. God so loved the world that he sent Jesus.  Love  acts to benefit others!  Lord let us strive for righteousness more than knowledge so we may glorify you more each day.  

 Aug 22, 2023 God is! “A greedy man stirs up strife, but the one who trusts in the Lord will be enriched.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭28‬:‭25‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Why be generous with your hard deserved treasures?  Hard work is a good thing so why share with those who are lazy?  It all comes down to where the power comes from.  If we are the source of all our efforts then we desire to do what we want with our products.  It's like a tiger not sharing his prey but fighting to keep it.  But God, changes everything, if we truly believe he is and gives us all we need. We are created beings that can't do anything without God.  If we truly want joy we must trust our maker and share what we have made with other creators.  Sin says no God, love says God will supply all our needs.  Trusting God is the source of all joy through Jesus our Lord.  Amen 

 Aug 17, 2023 “Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭26‬:‭12‬ ‭ESV‬‬ A fool may or may not understand a situation but either way acts incorrectly.  Therefore a fool is a person who can't be helped by any reason.  A prideful person often acts correctly because their reasoning is strong.  Their error is not acknowledging that God gives wisdom and understanding to who he chooses.  And when their understanding fails they have no where to turn for help.  The fool and prideful person ultimately are the same they need help and forgiveness which can only be found in Jesus Christ.  Lord we need you so! Amen

 Aug 15, 2023 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬ ‭ESV‬‬ A believer in Jesus is more than a follower of church rules and regulations.  You become a spiritual part of the living God.  You go from being an enemy to being connected through Christ to God.  We are like a new tree growing not a Christmas tree that you add ornaments on fake branches.   “These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.” ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2‬:‭23‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Lord Jesus you are building your church I am so thankful I am a part of you.  Amen 

 Aug 13, 2023 “My son and daughter, eat honey, for it is good, and the drippings of the honeycomb are sweet to your taste. Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Hope only comes from wisdom and wisdom is knowing and trusting in the truth.  Trusting in a lie only produces sadness, evil and death of any hope.  Jesus said you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free.  And he said he is the way and the truth and the life.  Wisdom is hoping in who he is and what he said.  Praise you Jesus.  Amen 

 Aug 10, 2023 “Do not toil to acquire wealth; be discerning enough to desist.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭23‬:‭4‬ ‭ESV‬‬ It is very easy to desire wealth for it provides for so much.  There is so much that wealth can give and help in many ways. Those who work hard and receive wealth are highly praised.  Yet God warns us against this action.  Our hearts desire to be our own little gods and the more wealth the more self power.  Let us seek and work to obtain more of God than money.  Amen

 Aug 8, 2023 “The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22‬:‭4‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Why is it so hard to be humble? This verse says that being humble and fearing God has great rewards.  Sin in us hates God and being humble and fearing God shows dependency  on him.  How can you depend on what you don't know?  How can you fear what seems not there?  Jesus said that you will find the Lord if you seek him with all your heart.  Oh Lord we need to love you more than what we see or experience.  Give us hearts so we may see, love and fear you.  Then we will have riches, and honor and life!  Amen

 Aug 8, 2023 “So take heart, men, for I have faith in God that it will be exactly as I have been told.” ‭‭Acts‬ ‭27‬:‭25‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We long to know the future if what occurs will be good news. Jesus who controls the past, present, and future said you will have many trials and temptations but be of good cheer I have overcome the world.  Satan and his evil control of the world Jesus has defeated and he is planning the victory out in and through his church.  Stay close to Jesus and know the victory is his.  Praise you Lord God.  Amen

 Aug 6, 2023 “A man’s steps are from the Lord; how then can man understand his way?” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭20‬:‭24‬ ‭ESV‬‬ The answer is obvious, if you want to understand your ways  you must get to know the Lord.  We want understanding but often from our own efforts.  Our sinful nature wants to do it myself.  Trusting others including God is humbling and we avoid often.  The Bible is constantly encouraging us to trust and obey and when we do our eyes are open to understanding and wisdom as gifts from the Lord.  Lord help us to realize how foolish it is to not ask and receive help from others and you.  Amen 

 Aug 3, 2023 “When a man’s folly brings his way to ruin, his heart rages against the Lord.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭19‬:‭3‬ ‭ESV‬‬ This verse is so typical of mankind.  When we act poorly and reap the consequences of our actions we often try to find someone to blame.  If there is no one easily found we blame God.  How foolish yet there is truth in that statement.  Blaming God for anything is one step closer to acknowledging God's sovereignty.  Getting mad at God is much better than ignoring him.  Is our foolishness our fault, absolutely and yet could God have stopped us or redirected us, of course he could.  So if we blame God then we should ask him to help us next time.  Lord help us to know you are with us believers all the time.  Amen 

 Aug 3,  2023 Keep God in your thoughts “For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.” ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭62‬:‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬ How does waiting on the Lord work?  Just sitting until you hear the Holy Spirit directing you.  Running after something hoping God will stop you if you are going in the wrong direction.  How about realizing that God is always with you when you are sitting or walking and have conversations with him about what you are planning and doing.  Make every effort to pray, before, during and after all activity.  When you wait for God you know he hears you and responds to your concerns. Keep him in your thoughts and know he will answer.  That gives him the glory for you show that you believe in him.  Amen
