Good or Morning star

 Dear Laura,

Thank you for your invitation to connect with the Honors College.  Since I am a senior citizen the pursuit of truth is not only an intellectual appealing experience. It is essential for everyone who sees their mortality fading away and desiring to obtain the truth of human existence.  If our hope and understanding is not true then we our running up the wrong hill even if it is an exhilarating experience.  My pursuit of truth has lead me to the Bible and the understanding of its meaning has been tremendously hopeful and exciting.  Those who believe its claims, trust it is the very words of the living God.  It offers eternal life in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Therefore for me, with a limited time here on earth, time spend learning about man's ideas fade in comparison to the light of the knowledge of the glory and truth in Christ Jesus our Lord.  I pray you not settle on good when you can have the bright morning star in your heart.

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
