Knowledge puffs up

“Thus, sinning against your brothers and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭8:12‬ ‭ESV‬‬

This verse has convicted me of my prideful knowledge that possess me often in Bible studies and other discussions concerning the Bible.  Am I defending the sacredness of scripture and lifting up Jesus or trying to win a point?  Because I think I know the correct answer am I loving the person who I think is wrong?  This verse tells me when I wound their conscience I sin against God.  Jesus said when you do this to the least of these you do it against me.  If I have been given insight to some understanding of scripture I must use this gift to love and encourage others not proudly prove my correctness.  For if love is not the motivation for my speak than it is just noise!  Jesus help me to love first before I speak.  Amen

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
