Our God is holy

  “And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?””

‭‭Mark‬ ‭15:34‬ ‭ESV‬‬


God has to punish sin.  God would not be holy or righteous if he did not kill those who do not honor his holiness.  God is holy and he reflects his holiness in his glory.  Sin robs God of his righteous glory and demands the glory that comes from justice.  Jesus took on our sins at the cross and for righteousness God had to uphold his holiness and punish the result of sin.  Jesus received our just punishment from his Father for our sake.  Glory is seen by all who love God’s holiness on the cross .  For in mercy and punishment God upholds his holiness and it is revealed in his amazing glory.  Our God is a wonderful God who shows mercy and judgment to all. All for your glory Jesus.  Amen

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
