God’s will be done

 “Again the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying, “Go, number Israel and Judah.””

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭24:1‬ ‭ESV‬‬


The last verse of chapter 23 stated that Uriah the Hittite was among David’s great men. Then chapter 24 starts with the Lord being angry at Israel.   It doesn’t say why God was angry but said that he incited David to take a censes.  God used David against Israel.  This shows that the Lord uses people for his purposes and yet the people are still responsible for their actions.  This was not written to figure out God’s will or motivation why but to know that God is sovereign and his will and plan is always accomplished. We must pray that he uses us for love and righteousness not for his judgment and wrath.  Jesus let us humble ourselves to love and worship you. Amen

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
