Jesus can handle our emotions

 “So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, but Mary remained seated in the house.”

‭‭John‬ ‭11:20‬ ‭ESV‬‬


Why did Martha go to Jesus and Mary didn’t?  Martha was upset at Jesus and Mary was sad and hurt.  Emotions are very funny but often tell what is in the heart of a person.  Martha knew that Jesus could heal but didn’t because he was not there.  Mary knee that Jesus loved and was broken hearted because he wasn’t there.  Martha was mad at Jesus and Mary felt betrayed by Jesus.  If you don’t love me you can’t keep my commandments.  Loving Jesus means we may get our hearts broken because we don’t know what will happen tomorrow.  Jesus wants us to be real in our relationship with him.  Knowing all the facts about him makes us almost as smart as Satan! He wants our heart which means our emotions.  Jesus can handle our emotions even if we can’t.  Amen

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
