God gives love

Song of Solomon 2:7-12 “I adjure you,O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or the does of the field, that you not stir up or awaken love until it pleases. 8The voice of my beloved! Behold, he comes, leaping over the mountains, bounding over the hills. 9My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Behold, there he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, looking through the lattice. 10My beloved speaks and says to me: “Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away, 11for behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. 12The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singingd has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.”

Love is so essential in God’s world. It motives our thoughts, feelings, senses and mostly our hearts. Love makes everything new with energy and joy. God’s love motivated him to create the world and raise the dead! Without love life is bland without flavor.  Solomon describes how love makes one see life through eyes of joy.  The only caution in this section is that you not stir up or awaken love until it pleases. Here God has his say. Love is a gift and the Lord knows who will receive love or have love for him and others.  This very essential item cannot be made by mankind but comes from God. Therefore let us draw near to Jesus and trust him to give us this marvelous gift of love for him and others.  Amen
