Trust and obey
Isaiah 64:5-8 “5You meet him who joyfully works righteousness, those who remember you in your ways. Behold, you were angry, and we sinned; in our sins we have been a long time, and shall we be saved? 6We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. 7There is no one who calls upon your name, who rouses himself to take hold of you;
for you have hidden your face from us, and have made us melt inc the hand of our iniquities. 8But now, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter;
we are all the work of your hand.“
Verse 5 says something very interesting “God was angry and we sinned”. God does get angry when we sin but this says God was angry and then we sinned. This shows that God actions preceded our actions. Then Isaiah describes all the people’s sins which mainly are ignoring God. So if we sin or if we praise God ultimately the Lord God is the determiner of our actions. God has given us the capability to make choices and we do them constantly everyday. What the believer has through the Holy Spirit is the insight to know that it is the Lord Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith. We can know that God is working all things out for his glory and our good. Therefore God’s commandments are for our good and his glory if we obey them. Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. God is working and our joy is knowing that he is working in and for us everyday. Therefore choose wisely as one who has been born again. Thank you Jesus. Amen
