Inquire the Lord more than pleading

1 Samuel 14:6-10 “6Jonathan said to the young man who carried his armor, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. It may be that the LORD will work for us, for nothing can hinder the LORD from saving by many or by few.” 7And his armor-bearer said to him, “Do all that is in your heart. Do as you wish.b Behold, I am with you heart and soul.” 8Then Jonathan said, “Behold, we will cross over to the men, and we will show ourselves to them. 9If they say to us, ‘Wait until we come to you,’ then we will stand still in our place, and we will not go up to them. 10But if they say, ‘Come up to us,’ then we will go up, for the LORD has given them into our hand. And this shall be the sign to us.”

Jonathan was a very special person that God used in very remarkable ways.  He seems just the opposite of his father Saul.  He was sensitive to the Lord working where Saul has little or no insight to God. In this event Jonathan was trusting that the Lord can do all things if he wanted.  He did not assume on God but inquired on the Lord to see where he wanted to move.  Saul gets in trouble and cries out to God for help.  Jonathan looks to the Lord first before acting.  This is how we grow in our relationship with the Lord Jesus by inquiring first instead of pleading for help. Jesus does answer pleading but as we grow in trusting him we should ask for advice more often, then our help pleads will be less giving us more joy and Jesus more glory..  Thank you Jesus for your love for us. Amen
