Don’t trust in the power of God only
1 Samuel 4:5-9 “5As soon as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came into the camp, all Israel gave a mighty shout, so that the earth resounded. 6And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shouting, they said, “What does this great shouting in the camp of the Hebrews mean?” And when they learned that the ark of the LORD had come to the camp, 7the Philistines were afraid, for they said, “A god has come into the camp.” And they said, “Woe to us! For nothing like this has happened before. 8Woe to us! Who can deliver us from the power of these mighty gods? These are the gods who struck the Egyptians with every sort of plague in the wilderness. 9Take courage, and be men, O Philistines, lest you become slaves to the Hebrews as they have been to you; be men and fight.”
This portion of chapter 4 has judgement by God throughout it. Knowing about God and expecting his help is very dangerous if your heart is not with him. Past knowledge of his protection and faithfulness is good if you want to know him personally. The Lord God is not an idea or a formula, or an Ark but a living God who knows, cares and wants us to worship and praise him. Going to church, praying, reading the Bible are all good but only if our heart is set on loving and knowing him better everyday. Lord Jesus help us to love you and trust you and praise you for who you are not for what you can do for us only!!! All for your glory Jesus. Amen
