God exalts himself for us and in us

Isaiah 30:18-20 “Therefore the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. 19For a people shall dwell in Zion, in Jerusalem; you shall weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry. As soon as he hears it, he answers you. 20And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher.”

Our God is a gracious Lord slow to anger and abounding in love to his people.  He also is a just God punishing evil but waits for his people to turn from not trusting him. Paul said we were chosen before the foundation of the earth was formed to be God’s children by the blood of Jesus. God puts his reputation on our faith in him. Like his nation Israel he blesses them when they trusted him and punished them when they didn’t .  This is called discipline for Jesus’ followers but it still is God’s correction because he loves us and we represent him in his world. Therefore trust in the Lord always and lean not on your own understanding.  He will direct your ways and will exalt himself in us and graciously give us his joy forever.  Praise you Lord Jesus.  Amen
