Pray for help for God’s name

“Turn, O Lord, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭6:4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

David and others in the Old Testament prayed to God to save them for his name sake.  That always seemed presuming to me that God is so connected to them that if they failed then God would look bad!  Maybe that is the correct way to help motivate us to act.  If we are Jesus representatives then when things go bad for us we need to pray to God to help us through the difficulty not only for our sake but for his name.  Even when the trouble is within us we need to understand that we live for him not ourselves and our actions do affect his glory.  That is a humbling and fearful way to live.  He gets the praise and we receive the joy.  So ask God for help for his name sake!  Amen

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
