Humble relationship

1 Peter 5:1-5 “So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: 2shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. 4And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. 5Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Reading this section of Peter’s letter you can again hear his humbleness coming out in relationships. Peter learned that Jesus desires love over demands when you are in a leadership role and submission when you are receiving directions. Humility and submission comes more easily when you know that God who is sovereignly and lovingly involved in your life. Everything is taken care of for you and we accept our role and be grateful knowing that Jesus will never leave us.  That truth changes us and we need to hear that good news everyday. Thank you Jesus.  Amen
