Fear is the beginning of wisdom
“If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared.”
Because the Lord forgives iniquities (sin) we should fear the Lord. Now this sounds backward, why should you fear someone who forgives? Shouldn’t you fear an unforgiving Lord? If you can’t be forgiven than you must not sin! Well there are two ways to solve the sin issue apart from forgiveness. One you don’t think you sin or two that God (righteous judge) doesn’t exist. If you know there is a God and you know that he is just then you fear the consequences of your sin. Once you know that you dishonored him their is tremendous fear of him. The good news is that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. The gospel of God is the conclusion of wisdom. Thank Jesus for being the wisdom of God. For his glory and our joy! Amen
Psalms 130:3-4 ESV
