Don’t Compare but trust
Acts 12:1-3 “About that time Herod the king laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church. 2He killed James the brother of John with the sword, 3and when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. ”
James the first apostle who was martyred was not made much of in this account. In the gospels he was one of the three who Jesus was closest. Peter, James, and John were at the transfiguration of Jesus. It seems like Peter and John had major roles in the church where James was hardly mentioned except Herod killed him! God uses us the way he wants to use us and it is always for our good. When we compare ourselves to others we can either boast or complain and both are sinful. We need instead to get to know Jesus more and to realize how much he loves us and to trust him completely. Oh the joy of knowing and loving Jesus! Lord please help us to trust you more today. In Jesus name. Amen
