What are your motives?
Thought of the day
Luke 2: 34-35 “And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed 35 (and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.” The thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. What does that mean? The Lord looks at our heart, our motives, our desires which produce our actions. Jesus came to change hearts. We don’t know our hearts the way Jesus knows them. But when he reveals our hearts to us we realize we are sinners and need to repent. Sin keeps us from knowing our true motives and when Jesus opens our eyes to his love our hearts begin to change from love of self to loving him and others through him. May Jesus continue to open our eyes to see what motives us. We need to stay in God’s word so our hearts will love Jesus everyday and know and change if needed our motives. For Jesus glory and our joy. Amen
