Responding to Jesus’ corrections

Luke 4: 29 “And they rose up and drove him out of the town and brought him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, so that they could throw him down the cliff.”  When Jesus was in his home town he could not do many miracles because they did not believe in him. If we read parts of the Bible that reveal to us that we are sinning how do we respond? Sinning comes from unbelief in God’s word. When the people in his town listened to Jesus point out their sin they were so angry that the tried to get rid of him and throw him off a cliff!  When we read that our actions go against God’s word do we rip out the page and throw it away?  If we try to get rid of Jesus and his word we are in a very dangerous place.  We should instead get on our knees and repent from displeasing God, our Lord and Savior.  He died for us and his words are life to our souls. Pray to the Lord that he opens our heart, and eyes to his love and direction for our lives.  Trust in th...

Adam gave death Jesus eternal life

Luke 3: 23 “Jesus, when he began his ministry, was about thirty years of age, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Heli,“. Jesus was the only human that was not born with the seed of man, but by the Holy Spirit.  He is fully man by being born by Mary a women and fully God by being the eternal Son of God.  He is the one and only God man.  Adam was like him in being unique for Adam was not born but made by God.  Adam represents all of humanity because he was the first one made.  When he sinned all of us received his sinful nature and all die.  Jesus came and is the perfect savior that could take on our penalty for sin and destroy it on the cross. Having faith in him we become like him and inherit eternal life.  Adam gave us death and Jesus gives us eternal life for all who believe that he died for you. Oh Lord Jesus let us have faith in you this day and always.  For your glory and our joy.  Amen

What are your motives?

Thought of the day Luke 2: 34-35 “And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed 35 (and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”  The thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.  What does that mean?  The Lord looks at our heart, our motives, our desires which produce our actions. Jesus came to change hearts. We don’t know our hearts the way Jesus knows them.  But when he reveals our hearts to us we realize we are sinners and need to repent.  Sin keeps us from knowing our true motives and when Jesus opens our eyes to his love our hearts begin to change from love of self to loving him and others through him.  May Jesus continue to open our eyes to see what motives us.  We need to stay in God’s word so our hearts will love Jesus everyday and know and change if needed our motives. ...

God’s glory in us

Luke2:9 “And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear.”  The glory of the Lord is a most amazing thing. It often brings fear to the unexpected and great joy for those who are prepared to see it. The creation was made to reveal God’s glory.  God wants us to see, rejoice and worship him.  His glory gives us the essence, the fabric that is God. When Jesus came to us God’s glory became flesh and his glory was seen in his miracles, his love, his teaching, his dying for us and his resurrection.  When we allow the Holy Spirit to shine through us the earth sees God’s glory.  Let us be vessels of the light of the glory of God.  The joy we have by being children of God.  Praise Jesus today for his glory and our joy. Amen

Mary’s song should be ours

Luke1:46-47,49 “And Mary said,“My soul magnifies the Lord, 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 49 for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.“ Mary had great joy within her when she visited Elizabeth because of the affirmation of what was truly happening to her. Her fear of uncertainty changed and the Holy Spirit filled her with the love of God. God works in our lives everyday through the Holy Spirit and his word. Fear and unbelief often hinders us from rejoicing in God’s presence in us.  May we encourage and be encouraged by other believers that we are blessed and that God is doing wonderful things in and for us today.  Let’s sing his praises for Jesus’s glory and our joy.  Amen

All is possible with God

Luke1: 37 “For nothing will be impossible with God.”   The first chapter of Luke tells us about many miracles with angels, births that could not happen with out God’s supernatural working and belief in God.  When God’s power is seen in normal, everyday life we don’t make much about it but it is nun the less wonderful.  Lord Jesus open our eyes and heart to see and believe you are working in our lives doing great things. We are your children and we have a purpose to let your light shine in our life so we will give glory to God and praise him for his good work in us.  What a privilege and responsible to be his children.  Help us Holy Spirit to dine for Jesus today.  For Jesus glory and our joy.  Amen

He is alive!

Mark16:  6 And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.  This simple statement changed live on earth forever.  Jesus rose from the dead!  We have heard it so many times it doesn’t affect us like it should. The women there were astonished and extremely alarmed because death was overcome. Watching someone killed and then rising alive is wonderful. Death is no longer to be feared but life is to be praised and Jesus is life.  God is what produces life and Jesus concurred death by paying for the penalty of sin.  This was his plan from all eternity and to know and love him and believe in his plan to give you life is truly amazing.  Let us praise Jesus for giving us the gift of eternal life through and by him.  Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen

Amazing death of Jesus

Mark15: 37-39 “And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. 38 And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. 39 And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he  breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”  Jesus the Son of God died!  How can this be? The author of live, the great I Am, the King of Kings, died. This was the most significant event in all of history.  God cannot die!  Was something bigger, stronger, more intelligent than God?  Absolutely not. Only God knows how important God’s glory is to God.  Sin dishonors God’s glory. The only way to free his children from the dishonoring penalty of sin is to destroy all creation or save it by being their substitute.  The ultimate plan of salvation was  for God to die for his children to justify his righteousness and satisfy his glory and save his children.  Amazing love from the father and son who loved us so much. Pray to our father

Mark14: 36 “And he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”” Jesus’s prayer before being arrested is an example of the type of prayer we should pray.  When we pray we need to believe that God hears our prayer and that our relationship with him through Jesus is one of a father child. If we know him we know that all things are possible for him. When we pray we need to be honest and pray our hearts desire.  He knows our heart better than we do so being honest is the only way with God. Then when we are honest we humble ask that he give us what is best since we know his will is better than our desires.  If he answers yes to your request you know that your desires and his will were the same. If he doesn’t than you can trust he knows better than you. Our father is wonderful and full of love to his children.  We should pray to him often!  Thank you Jesus for providing a way to speak to you...

Jesus’s body

Mark14:8,22, “She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand for burial. 22 And as they were eating, he took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.” Jesus came to us as a human and God. His body was very important and it represents his love for his creation. Jesus did not reach the highest level of being human. He humbled himself and took on a body. His act put a much higher value on the body. His body allowed us to be set free from our sin because his body took on the wrath of God the Father.  His body that was sacrificed for us became the covenant for us with God. The old covenant with Abraham was with goats that we’re slain, how much more with Jesus body.  Jesus promised us that we will get a new glorified body in his new kingdom. A body without sin, like his resurrected body. He took on our body and we will take on his body. Thank you Jesus for giving us our body and shedding your body for us.  Y...

Endure to the end

Mark13:13 “And you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” Jesus has called those who follow him to a life that is everlasting and full of joy. He also warned them that there will be trials and hard times. That is what Jesus experiences and he is the Lord. We as his followers will experience difficulties.  We wish it was not that way but we are not God and we learn to trust him and obey him for his burden is easy and his yoke is light.  The fight we must fight is one of faith in his word. Do we believe the Bible or do we believe is something that is against it?  His children, which he has chosen, will endure to the end because Jesus is with them.  All that we go through is for our ability to reflect his glory. Are you a child of God? If you endure to the end you are and the rewards our out of this world wonderful.  Keep on believing children of the living God.  In Jesus name I pray Amen

Righteous acts toward God

All works are unlawful to God if they are not motivated by a heart that loves God more than anything.  And that is impossible if your heart has not been changed from stone to flesh by the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit only comes to you if you believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ.  And you can only believe if God chooses you to be his child.  So if you do works of righteousness that indicate Jesus knows you praise him for his wonderful grace he has given you and rejoice in serving him and everyone else that he brings in your life.  Rejoice knowing there is a place prepared for you in heaven.  Thank you Jesus.  Amen

Great for God

Mark10: 43 “But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant,“ God’s kingdom is different from the worlds. Jesus who is God emptied himself and became and man and was a servant. That is how God works, he cares for others even when they don’t desire or ask him. He loves without receiving love. We as his followers must desire the same thing. We must be servant of all if we want to be great in the kingdom of God. That desire can only come from love and it is a gift from God.  We must pray for Jesus to fill us with his love so we can love others without receiving love in return.  Let’s desire to be great to Jesus.  For his glory and our joy.  Amen

Treat others well

It sounds so easy to do why does the world not do it.  Treat others like we want to be treated. I believe everyone tries it at first but when the other person acts poorly then they stop acting kindly.  Jesus tells us by word and deed to act kindly and never stop.  Never!  That is only possible because we know God and trust God that he will take care of us when it seems no one else will. Let us be Christ like today. For his glory and our joy.  Amen

Salt of the world

Mark 9: 50 “Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.” Jesus said to have salt in yourself?  What does that mean?  Be content with what God has given you and us your salt to help others not hurt.  Salt is helpful if it is used correctly.  To much and it is useless and harmful. To little and it has no effect. Pray that the Lord will use you for his purpose that he made you for and thank him when he does.  We as believers are the salt of the world.  Thank you Jesus for making and using us correctly.  Amen

Possible faith

Mark 9: 23-24 “And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” 24 Immediately the father of the child cried out[d] and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”  A father who wanted his son healed but Jesus disciples couldn’t. Then he saw Jesus and asked if he could help in anyway. Being discouraged can come easily when trials occur. During those times we question if Jesus can or will help us.  When we truly know Jesus we understand that he is God and can do anything. So worry and discouragement are with us but faith overcomes unbelief. So as the father in the verses cried out “I believe, help my unbelief”, we also should ask Jesus to give us more faith in him.  With Jesus all things are possible.  In Jesus name Amen.

Live now for Jesus

“"Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”   This tells me to live in the present. Trust in Jesus now. Obey him without thinking what problems it will make for you tomorrow.  In Jesus there is no future for he is all present and lives in the now. He makes the now.  Work had, live strong, trust him completely, share your life.  He can and will be with you always.  Nothing can separate you from his love.  You will not miss out!  In Jesus name.  Amen ‭

Fasting for dependence

Every breath we take is a gift from God.  Our reward is life now and heaven in eternity.  Fasting is good for we are hard headed and think we don’t need help.  How foolish we are to not want a reward from God who gives us so generously.  Thank you Jesus for all you do for us everyday.  Open our eyes to see you working so we can praise you more.  For your glory and our joy.

Knowing God

Mark 6: 20 “for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he kept him safe. When he heard him, he was greatly perplexed, and yet he heard him gladly.“. Knowing the truth about God and finding him interesting is not enough for salvation. Herod gladly heard what John the Baptist said but not enough to change.  Yet what motivated Herod? His oath, people he wanted to impress.  He did not want to lose the acceptance and attention of people.  When he heard about God it was not enough to motivate him to change.  Knowing about God does not change the heart.  Knowing God does.  God please continue to open our eyes, ears and heart to know you more each day.  Thank you Jesus. Amen

Jesus is wisdom

Proverbs 8. Wisdom is perfect in the Lord Jesus.  Many of the verses in this chapter describe the works of Jesus in creation.  When the Lord Jesus lives in your life through the Holy Spirit trusting and obeying him will give you wisdom to live a life that glorifies God and brings you great joy.  For Jesus sake amen.

Pray in secret

“But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:6‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Some people talk to themselves and I wonder what that means?  Are they praying to themselves or is it a type of praying that is secret?  Self awareness and God awareness can be very similar as believer in God.  If you are not praying out loud than who hears you? God and you if you believe God can hear you.  If you wait until someone tells you what to do all the time you would be a robot.  But we most often listen to ourselves.  Praying is learning to listen to God through ourselves. Should I do this?  Yes or no will usually come from who is most present in your heart.  Are you asking God or yourself?  The Lord answers when we read his word and have the Holy Spirit use his word to answer our questions.  Praying is talking to God and yourself if you are a believer ...

Given eternal life

Mark 4: 25 “For to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”  Do you have faith in Jesus?  Yes, then with all gladness rejoice for great is your reward in heaven.  If God put in your heart a desire to know him, love him and obey his teachings then you are a child of God.  Your desire should be to want more of God. He delights in giving good gifts to his children.  The greatest gift is knowing and experience the glory of Jesus.  We were made to experience and reflect his glory.  Desire more of God, ask him to fill you with his love and serve him with gladness.  Praise the Lord for your name is written in the lambs book of life.  Thank you Jesus!  Amen

Live perfectly

“You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” That is impossible!  Why did Jesus tell us to do something that we cannot do?  Being perfect like God, no way!  We can’t even desire to love our enemies let alone act kindly towards them. Why demand what is possible?  Then who can get into heaven? No one, the standard is to high!  Does God grade on a curve?  Does he accept nice efforts?  No!  The only effort he accepts are perfect, righteous actions.  How is that possible?  Only by God living in us and giving us the desire and ability to be perfect.  It is impossible to do it on our own.  The gospel of Jesus says over and over, you can’t but I can and want to in you.  We were made to be powered by the Holy Spirit.  Jesus came to give us the power to live perfectly in him. He said you can do nothing without him.  All praise to you Lord Jesus Christ. Amen‭

Family adoption

Family theology! Mark 3: 29 “but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”. Forgiveness of sin is the need for all people.  To be apart of God’s family is eternal life. God is righteous, holy, and perfect.  We are sinful and without hope of being adopted into his family.  That is why Jesus had to come to give us life by dying for our sins.  All that are a part of God’s family have received the Holy Spirit that started to change their heart from sinful desires to righteousness. When our eyes and ears are open to the love that Jesus offers us we believe in him.  We become apart of his family because the Holy Spirit lives in us giving us a new heart to desire God. In Mark 3:35 Jesus says that whoever does the will of the Father is in my family. That is only possible because of the Holy Spirit lives in them.  What a wonderful God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit we have!  Thank you Jesus for making us...

Oaths, oh No!

Taking oaths is required to help you keep your word. It is to show that you want to keep your word. But where does the power come from to do what you say you will do?  Jesus said we can’t even change the color of our hair!  So where does the power come from to control your heart?  Because all decisions originate from the heart.  If we could control our heart then Jesus would not have to die on the cross because we could act sinlessly and not need a savior.  Let your yes be yes and your no be no.  Everything else is pride and/or deception.  Pride to think you on your own can keep an oath and evil because your intentions were never to keep it in the first place.  Help us Jesus, help us!  Amen

God’s perfect timing

Mark 1:10 “And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.” Mark’s gospel emphasizes the urgency of the kingdom of God.  There is no hesitation, no contemplation. Events happen when God wills them to happen.  That is true on earth and it takes faith to see and believe in God’s plan. He is always on time perfectly fulfilling his plans for all of us.  And as believers for our good and his glory.  Let’s us pray that our eyes are open to see him working out our salvation today.  In Jesus name Amen.

Death can’t hold saints

Matt 27: 52 “The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised,” death where is your victory, death where is your sting?  When Jesus died he paid the penalty of sin for all believers who become saints. Sin causes death Jesus destroyed sins power and we are new and free from the curse.  We all will be raised from the dead unto eternal life for those who put their faith in the Lord Jesus. Death cannot hold us because by faith we now live in Jesus who overcomes all evil. Praise God for whom all blessings flow! In Jesus name amen.
