Spirit walking

“But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The law that causes our passions to increase is written outside our heart.  It lets us know we are sinners and cannot keep the law because we don’t want to.  We know we should but our sinful nature will not be controlled.  Once we die to the flesh by belief in Jesus death and resurrection we are born by the Spirit.  The Spirit wants to obey the laws or wants to please God.  When we walk by the Spirit we fulfill the laws because our nature is submissive to God and is controlled by God.  Our new decision maker “heart” chooses correctly because it loves Jesus.  The wonderful gift of grace that allows a sinner like me to love and serve God out of a willing heart.  Maybe not always but by grace more each day! Thank you Jesus

A chosen privilege

 “And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We have not chosen God's love first, it is God who has chosen us.  What a glorious and tremendous responsibility.  The God of the universe has chosen us to represent him in his world.  With this truth placed deep in our heart we must love Jesus and others more than ourselves because that is the character of God.  Our privilege and responsibility is huge.  We must submit to the Holy Spirit to live righteously for we are witnesses to king Jesus.  Amen

Be sober for the day

 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Jesus is called the morning star, bringing light into this evil dark world.  When we taste and see that the Lord is good we live in his light which is called day.  Paul encouraged us to be sober in preparing for Jesus' return.  He means to mentally and spiritually be clear in our thinking about our faith. To be self disciplined, and vigilant concerning our hope and belief in Jesus' love and presence.  When doubt and danger tempt us we need to stay sober and put on the armor of God and trust in the Lord.   Lord help us to be ready to serve you by loving you and others until you come.  Come soon Lord Jesus come soon.  Amen
